Home to over 120,000 elephants and spectacular river safaris along the Chobe River
Chobe National Park is Botswana's first national park and one of Africa's premier wildlife destinations. Covering 11,700 square kilometers, it's renowned for having the largest concentration of elephants on the African continent, with herds often numbering in the hundreds.
The park's crown jewel is the Chobe River, which forms the northern boundary and attracts massive concentrations of wildlife, especially during the dry season (May to October). Sunset boat cruises along the river offer unparalleled opportunities to see elephants swimming, hippos wallowing, and crocodiles basking on the banks.
Beyond elephants, Chobe is home to large populations of buffalo, zebra, giraffe, and various antelope species. Predators including lions, leopards, and wild dogs roam the park, while the riverine areas host over 450 bird species, making it a paradise for birdwatchers.
The park's diverse ecosystems range from lush floodplains and dense woodland to open grasslands and swamps. Each area offers unique wildlife viewing experiences, from the Savuti Marsh's predator action to the Linyanti Swamps' remote wilderness.
